Fashion designer reviewing pattern sheets pinned on a studio wall

Capability 01

Product development starts by removing assumptions.

A design reference needs to become an agreed garment specification. The development review connects the visual idea with construction, measurements, materials, trims, quantity and timing.

Four valid starting points

Send the best reference you have.

Different inputs carry different information. Combining them usually reduces ambiguity.

A

Tech Pack

Measurements, construction, artwork, materials and labeling can be reviewed in one technical source.

B

Reference images

Useful for silhouette and detail direction, but missing dimensions and hidden construction still need definition.

C

Physical sample

Helps communicate fit, weight, drape and finishing while requested changes are recorded separately.

D

Sketch or concept

Requires a fuller development discussion around proportion, construction and materials.

Development checklist

What the team needs to resolve.

  • Silhouette and fitEase, length, balance, waist position and size range.
  • ConstructionSeams, openings, closures, lining, reinforcement and specialist operations.
  • MaterialsFabric performance, color, opacity, trim articles and branding components.
  • Commercial inputsQuantity, target market, delivery window, packing and shipment expectations.

Before a dependable quote

Price follows the confirmed build.

Two garments that look similar can use different fabrics, linings, seam finishes, closures and labor. A useful quotation therefore depends on the actual construction and order conditions—not only a product name or front image.

Where information is missing, the response should identify the gap or state the assumption for buyer confirmation.

Development output

A shared brief for the first sample.

The output should make the sample objective clear: which shape, measurements, material, trims and workmanship the sample is intended to test. Sample comments then reference that agreed starting point.
